National Guard Tuition Assistance

Members of the National Guard may receive Tuition Assistance (TA), though not all elements of the Guard receive equal benefits.

The Army and Air Force determine separately how to administer their Guard members' federal TA. Many states also offer their National Guard members state-funded education incentives based on state guidelines and eligibility. Such benefits might include state TA, waivers, exemptions, student loan repayment, etc.

Army National Guard

The Army National Guard (ARNG) Federal Tuition Assistance program provides financial assistance to drilling Guard members. A master's degree may be supported provided funding is available. The maximum amount paid in federal tuition assistance for ARNG members is:

If activated, members of the Air National Guard (ANG) become eligible for Air Force TA.

State Tuition Assistance
